The company plans to seek mutual growth and make efforts in developing a sustainable wind farm based on close communication
(December 23, 2024) KF Wind signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for mutual cooperation with the five local fisheries’ associations comprising the East Marine Energy Fishermen's Union. The signing took place at the Starts Hotel in Ulsan on December 11. The MOU ceremony was held to strengthen trust-based communication and mutual cooperation among the parties involved in fisheries operations off the coast of Ulsan.
The East Marine Energy Fishermen's Union consists of fisheries who mainly operate within the 1,125 MW floating offshore wind farm area being developed by KF Wind off the coast of Ulsan.
KF Wind organized this MOU signing ceremony to ensure transparent communication with local fisheries at every stage of the floating offshore wind farm development, including the permitting process, and to gather feedback to ensure effective and collaborative cooperation.
Under the MOU, KF Wind will secure seamless cooperation from the fisheries affiliated with the Federation in the development process of the project in the Ulsan area. In turn, the fisheries will maintain close communication with KF Wind to address any factors that may affect their fishing rights and implement measures for mutual growth.
Commenting on the MOU, Austin Park, KF Wind's project director, stated, "Close communication and cooperation with the fisheries who rely on the Ulsan coast for their livelihoods is one of the most important aspects of developing a sustainable floating offshore wind farm. We will listen to the voices of the fisheries, who are key stakeholders in the community, and work towards creating a mutually beneficial relationship that leads to a win-win outcome."
