KF Wind announced that it has signed the Pipeline Sales and Purchase Agreement for Securing Power Transmission Infrastructure with Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC) to acquire an unused onshore pipeline in the Ulsan area, thereby securing a transmission route connecting its offshore wind farm to an onshore substation.
This agreement forms part of KF Wind’s efforts to secure critical infrastructure required for the stable transmission of electricity generated offshore to the onshore substation. In particular, by utilizing the existing pipeline corridor along the onshore cable route—from the landfall point to the substation—the project is expected to significantly enhance infrastructure development efficiency.
The pipeline route is located in the Onsan National Industrial Complex in Ulju County, Ulsan, with a total length of approximately 4.4 kilometers. Through this approach, KF Wind expects to minimize environmental impacts and permitting requirements associated with new cable installation, while improving overall project execution speed and efficiency.
Following the agreement, all necessary follow-up procedures have been successfully completed, including the transfer of pipeline ownership, the succession of rights and obligations related to road occupancy permits, and amendments to the relevant permits. As a result, the regulatory and institutional framework required for securing the onshore transmission infrastructure has been firmly established.
KF Wind is currently developing a large-scale floating offshore wind project—comprising KFW 1 & 2 and East Blue Power (EBP)—located approximately 80 kilometers offshore from Ulsan within Korea’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The project is expected to contribute significantly to Korea’s energy transition and carbon neutrality goals by delivering substantial volumes of renewable energy.
