KF Wind emphasized the coexistence of the marine fisheries industry at the business presentation with fishermen.
Korea Floating Wind (KF Wind) visited the Ulsan Fishermen’s Association at Bangeojin Suhyup Marketplace in Ulsan and had a briefing session on floating offshore wind power business. About 100 fishermen from Buk-gu and Dong-gu in Ulsan participated in the event to actively communicate with each other regarding the promotion of the Ulsan offshore wind power project.
KF Wind introduced the necessity of developing floating offshore wind power, such as what floating offshore wind power is and why it is needed, as well as sponsors’ proven technology and operation experience abroad. Then, the future economic, social and environmental benefits of the KF Wind’s floating offshore wind were explained.
In addition, the progress status of surveys and research such as the environmental impact assessment, the geophysical and geotechnical surveys, and maritime traffic safety assessment were launched last year, was shared with fishermen and KF Wind’s activities were explained that can affect fishing activities. It was meaningful time to listen to fishermen’s opinions on ways to cooperate with fishermen for the coexistence of the marine fisheries industry.
“We are well aware of the concerns of local residents and fishermen related to the offshore wind power project in Ulsan. we will do our best to contribute to local communities, which can coexist with residents through continuous communication.” Jean Philippe Baudrey, head of Development at KF Wind said.
KFWind has been actively communicating with various residents and fishermen’s organizations in Ulsan to introduce the KFWind projects, after signing the MoU with fishermen to install Lidars in 2020. Besides, KF Wind is expanding local community contribution activities such as cleaning up Ulsan beaches and providing blankets to children from energy-poor families, and the eco-friendly social contribution campaigns for children in Ulsan.
