Nominated for the Soberano Awards (2024)
Synopsis
CIA agent Joe tries to balance his personal and professional life as the point man in the agency’s war on terror. Real military advisors helped produce a more authentic execution of weapons handling, house cleaning, positioning, teamwork, etc. Best new show, after the disappointing 4th season of Jack Ryan and generally lackluster shows everywhere, this was much better in every way.
Great acting by all
It looks really good and the action/fight scenes are amazing. I think most of the criticism of this show in the comments section seems to boil down to how unrealistic it is because of the whole female operator thing, and as a guy, I don’t mind a good female-led action show that’s an original IP that doesn’t make the main male character the main female character. Other than that, I haven’t seen any red flags yet, like every male being portrayed as incompetent or anything like that.
PS Nicole Kidman’s role so far is incredibly small and uneventful and could be played by anyone else
Also at first I thought it would be another no frills action series, but then they kind of dove into the family and I usually cringe at that, but I didn’t like what they did there. My only criticism is that the plot of what this specific group of operators are doing is very limiting to the story and could kill it if it goes beyond the season’s plot/villain… it needs to be more overarching so they can possibly make a new, more intense and fast paced Homeland, otherwise it risks becoming too episodic like The Blacklist.
We’ll see what the wonderful Morgan Freeman brings to the series
But from what I’ve seen so far, the series could stand on its own with Zaldana without any other A-listers. TLDR Cautiously optimistic overall, but I like what I’m seeing so far, everything is incredibly polished and well done. It’s entertaining, even if it’s not the History Channel show some commentators seem to prefer.
