For someone who didn’t really know the story, the details of what happened really interested me
Synopsis
During the 1972 Munich Olympics, an American sports TV crew is forced to cover a hostage crisis involving Israeli athletes. The performances are believable, the comedy is spot on, and the pacing and running time doesn’t leave you staring for the exit before the credits roll.
They did a great job of not telegraphing the plot points
Some might find the lack of change of scenery annoying, but I think it worked here. I think they wanted you to feel like the control room was your world, and to feel like they were there on this eventful day.
Thought-provoking, without preaching
They touched on the political and emotional elements beautifully. Mixing in footage of the actual event, including broadcast footage, definitely draws you more into the experience.
A nice touch
While it’s not a film I’d really want to watch over and over again, it’s a very well-crafted piece that I’d recommend to friends who enjoy this type of film.
